The Bang Family in Japan
Date: 2018-07-11

The renowned Bang family in Japan, composed of 14 giant pandas, is now the largest giant panda family overseas. Except for the founders of this family “Yong Ming” and “Mei Mei”, the rest family members were all born in Adventure World of Shirarahama of Wakayama County in Japan (Adventure World is the wildlife zoo in Shirarahama of Wakayama County) and also spent their childhood here. At present, 11 family members have returned to China. “You Bang”, “Hai Bang” and “Yang Bang” will come back to China on June 6, and “Yong Ming”, “Liang Bang”, “Ying Bang”, “Tao Bang” and “Jie Bang” continue to live in Adventure World. Let’s go and see!

PANDA LOVE

BREEDING CENTER

Firstly, let’s see “Liang Bang”, who is a mother of “the Bang Family” now. She is the first giant panda that was born in Japan and survived and she has 8 children. She becomes another Hero Mother in Japan after the mother “Mei Mei”. In 2011, “Liang Bang” was granted the title of “Knight of Wakayama” by the Wakayama County and awarded the medal of Meritorious Service.

“Liang Bang” gave birth to “Hai Bang” and “Yang Bang”, the boy and girl twins on August 11, 2010. The twins are nearly 7 years old. The elder brother “Hai Bang” is always energetic and likes pretending to be cute. The younger sister “Yang Bang” is strong-minded, distinguishing herself with the white hair on her heel. They returned to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding on the early morning of June 6 this year.

Giant panda “You Bang” is the fifth child of “Liang Bang”, born on August 10, 2012. It is a girl. As the single birth of “Liang Bang”, “You Bang” is the only one that her mother loves and cares during her growth. She grows up lively and healthy. She left her mother and lived alone when she turned to 1 year old. On the early morning of June 6, along with “Hai Bang” and “Yang Bang”, she went back to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding,

Giant pandas “Ying Bang” and “Tao Bang” were twin sisters born on December 2, 2014. “Liang Bang” is their mother. They are two and half years old. Judged from personality, the elder sister “Ying Bang” is independent but gentle while the younger sister “Tao Bang” is full of curiosity and very naughty. In terms of the appearance, the difference between them is slight. It is even hard for the work staff to differentiate them. In order to help to recognize the two sisters, the staff tells me some tips: “Ying Bang” has bigger ears and low bridge of the nose which is shorter; while “Tao Bang” has straight and small ears, with high bridge of the nose.

We hope that those giant pandas who live in Japan could be loved and taken good care of by the work staff in Adventure World and the Japanese. We hope that with our care and love, they could live happily and healthily.
